Installing single or double panel shutters
- Always use safety gear and safe lifting practices
- Installation requires two adults, Step ladder
- Electric drill, one 3/16″ drill bit one Philips head driver bit, one magnetic hex head bit, screw head #8 All hard ware and parts are included
Before beginning installation, must fully study, review all instructions
Step One:
Please review and sort the following.
- Must identify top of the panel (note louvers close up)
- Panel and louvers : pair up each with similar labels Installation hinges and ½” Philips head screws, Prepare a ¼” inch thickness shim (not included)
Step Two:
Place panel face down on soft carpeting predrilled holes for placing hinges are facing you) Use ½” Philips head screws to and secure hinges on this panel. If there are two panels per opening find the opposite panel and place hinges on that panel to similarly prepare it .
Step Three:
Place shim on the window ledge ( apron) place the panel facing the hinges to the window.
( In the absence of any window ledge, or projections at the bottom of the window casing there is ½” to ¾” over lap allowed , we suggest drawing a line at this marker and holding the panel to line up with that marker.)Person A, holds the panel 90 degrees to the edge of the window casing, Person B, places hinges on the casing and using a marker or pencil , marks the center of each hole on each hinge. Using and electric drill with proper size bit predrill installation holes.
Step Four:
Person A holds panel in exact same place as prior to drilling holes and person B then Starts from the top hole with using hex head driver bit secures and tightens installation screws in place. For double panels per window; please repeat steps one two and three and install the opposite panel.
Step Five:
Finally, identify appropriate louvers per panel, holding the clips, so very gently slide louver into the clips If you should have any loose louvers use any all purpose clear gel adhesive to fully secure louver.
Step Six:
Note two small screws on each hinge, tighten one , loosen the other, you will find the panel will move from side to side by 3/8″ this adjustment is delicate and precise, this adjustment is specially critical in lining up left and right panels.
